rename "Home" in Wasteland theme

I've got rid of the right side bar and it still looses the calendar when going smaller on the page. If I take the text out of area 1 php, still no difference. If I disable the drop down pixo point, still no difference. What do you call the area that the calender sits in and the area 1 php sits in? The calendar sites in a tan square and the text in area 1 php sits in more of a rectangular area with tan. Could those areas (whatever their names are) be narrowed to see if that is the problem? Could it be that I widen the area the the main content and text sits in? Not sure what area that is called? Main Content??

My last sentence was supposed to be: Could it be that since I have widened the area of the main content text that this could be my problem? I forgot what that was and how to narrow it some?

The section with the 2 boxes it "top" and the boxes are "area 1" (the welcome text) and "area 2" (the calendar). The part were the posts are is "container".

I don't think making those section narrower will make a difference but I could be wrong. As I said, I just don't know. I wouldn't even know where to begin trying to figure this out.

Actually, if you take the line under top section in Style CSS: .top-section { background: url(images/dot.gif) repeat-x scroll 0pt 100% !important; float: left; width: 790px; height: 157px; margin: 0; padding: 0; color: #000; } and change the width from 780 to 790, it takes care of my problem:) Thanks.

Re: Creating an indent on blog postings

Postby ericisrael42 » Thu Mar 25, 2010 1:47 am

You helped me last week or so on how to widen the text content area when creating pages. Now, when I post which puts it on the blog page, I need an indent as my content is too far left as evidenced by the attached screenshot. This must be a different setting than the main content setting you gave me that I changed? You can see what I mean by going here: http://laderaranchlife.com/about/ and see the indent is how I want it. Can the blog page indent be added so it is not so far to the left? Thank you.

Try this - in style.css find this line:
  Code:
#container { background: #ebe1c8; float: left; width: 700px; margin: 0 10px 0 7px; padding: 0 10px 10px 10px; }

Change the last value in margin: 0 10px 0 7px; from 7 to something a little larger. Just not too much or you are going to start throwing the layout off.

Wow, thanks. I was able to raise it to 40 with no damage. Thanks so much.

Hello Mina the great. I was wondering how to make the "author page" much smaller? I have attached a screenshot of mine and it is too big? Are there CSS that can be adjusted down? Thanks a bunch.

Hi Mina,

I don't understand. If I name my blog under the general settings, then my header gets screwed up as evidenced by the screenshot. If I don't name the blog in general settings, then my header is perfect but the title of the home page will not show above the browser. Does that make sense? I'd like to name my blog in the general settings but don't want the writing on top of the header. How to get rid of that writing without not naming the blog in general settings? As I said, if I remove the name in general settings, then the name is removed above the browser and that's no good for the search engines. Please help?
